Martha May & The Mondays

Fronted by multi-instrumentalist and prolific songwriter Martha May McKay, Martha May & The Mondays are a genre-bending force from Glasgow with a fresh take on post-punk. Their early releases have already caught the attention of Radio Scotland and led to gigs at iconic venues including the OVO Hydro, King Tut’s, and Saint Luke’s.

What began as Martha’s solo folk project quickly evolved. As the lineup expanded through jam sessions and rehearsals, so did the sound—shifting from introspective folk rock to something far more feral and electric. The band officially embraced punk, bringing with it a whole new energy and direction.

The result? A fierce and unconventional blend of saxophone, violin, electric guitar, distorted bass, synth, drums, and gnarly vocals—melding chaos and craft into a sound that’s raw, rhythmic, and undeniably their own.
